Weekend Update
We have a bit of a weather rollercoaster over the next several days. Friday and Saturday temps will be mild with mostly sunny skies and passing clouds with snow showers to the north.
Sunday, a cold front will bring a line of snow showers which may lead to accumulations of a coating to 4 inches.
Temps are going to drop for Sunday and Monday as Winter is trying to hold on with all it’s might.
Going forward over the next couple of weeks, we do have multiple opportunities for snow, as well as rain, and even some ice events. We need to keep an eye on a few things that will affect the atmosphere and could potentially lead to either a significant warming event with temperatures actually jumping into the 70s, OR, we could see another polar vortex flex which would result in below normal temperatures.
We have a few things going for us such as higher sun angle and more daylight hours.
As far as “big storms” there really aren’t any. There is a potential for a significant event on Tuesday into Wednesday, and another around Thursday. We will need to keep an eye on these.
Everyone jumps for joy when they see the warm temps, but there’s a problem. We actually need the temperature to warm up gradually. Too much warm too quick is going to lead to river flooding from ice jams, significant mud problems due to increased melting above the frost line, and some significant roadway damage from frost heaves and melting.
