Ice Event Update
Bread and Milk Index- 2 out of 5
Overnight modeling has moved up our timeframe a bit and has also expanded the ice accretion amounts a bit.
Scattered power outages are likely.
While the ice consumes much of the region with the exception of the Cape and Islands and southern Connecticut and Rhode Island, snow and frozen mix with cross much of Maine which will create a crunchy layer for much of that state.
Look for frozen precipitation to enter the region around 7pm this evening and spread west to east through the early morning hours. Overnight tonight into tomorrow morning is going to be the worst for ice.
If you do not need to go out tomorrow, I suggest you don’t until at least the afternoon. Give the contractors and road crews time to get a good coating of salt down. Don’t forget, they have to drive in the untreated conditions and their trucks can only hold so much at one time.
