Drought Update
I have included last week’s map so you can get a better visual than just the data points.
While some areas saw some improvement in northern Maine, southern New England dried out a bit. I mentioned last week that this is exactly how this is likely to play out. Just because an area sees improvement, doesn’t mean it will stay like that. If you fill up a 5 gallon bucket with water, but that bucket has a small crack in it, that water will start leaking out. While it looks full right after you fill it, the water level will steadily drop, and the next time you look at it, the water level will need to be topped off again. That is exactly what we are dealing with here still.
We still have a group of people who don’t think we are seeing drought conditions. River levels, ponds, and lakes, are only a small part of what goes into determining drought conditions.
