A few updates
The updated drought monitor has been released, and we are again seeing improvements.
I provided our calendar year to date precipitation information below. While technically we use the “water year” numbers, those numbers tend to trigger a lot of people for whatever reason.
Some areas are running above normal, some areas are still in a deficit. This also goes to show that you can be in a precipitation deficit and not be in a drought. Precipitation is only a part of the pie that goes into declaring a drought.
Speaking of precipitation... currently we are looking dry today. The scattered showers that we were expecting are pretty much dried up, however, rain is moving in from the west. This will join us for tomorrow
On Saturday, a rain system passing to the south of New England may bring some light rain to the southern portion of the region. There is a bit of uncertainty as to how this will track currently, but most of the data points to it being well to the south, but we all know how things can change.
Sunday looks ok. There is still a chance of scattered showers, but there was also that same chance of scattered showers for today and look how that turned out.
